I'm going to buy a second hand Sigma 10-20 tomorrow. I'll meet the vendor personally. What do I need to watch out for to see whether it's still in good shape?

Bring your camera.
Put the lense on your camera and take a handful of shots with it. |

And if possible, bring a laptop so you can inspect the results. A 1.8" LCD is no way to look for issues.

Unfortunately, my laptop is broke. Any in-the-field ways of judging on the condition? I'm gonna look for scratches on rear and front. Anything else?

| You take a big gamble with buying anything second-hand, especially delicate camera equipment. I would make sure it comes from a trusted vendor with one heck of a return policy/warrantee. In my opinion, unless you're saving a truckload of money, I would wait a little longer and buy it new. |
