I believe it was Carl Marx who said, "He who casts the vote decides nothing. He who counts the votes decides everything."
Now we know DPC attempts to thwart attempts to unfairly influence the outcome of voting by looking for voting paterns (e.g. troll voting), and eliminating votes matching these patterns. I applaud this goal and this method. But I am a bit troubled because I don't know if votes are being discarded correctly.
I certainly try to vote honestly, but what if some or all my votes were discarded? I would want to know and know why. And assuming my honest intent, I would want to stick up for them.
I assume the methods are being applied fairly and consistently, but wonder what percent of total votes are being discarded.
So ... 1) I propose that DPC notify each voter by PM when any of their votes have been discarded. 2) I would ask DPC post the percentage of votes discarded for each challenge along with the challenge results.
I recognize the criteria for determining a pattern may be confidential and that disclosing it may circumvent its intent. So I am not asking for this. I am asking for greater transparancy when votes are not counted. |

The thing is, if someone was to vote simply for a friend who they knew was competing, giving their photo a 10 and giving 1s to make up their 20% then they probably aren't aware of the discarded votes. If, however, they received a PM saying "your votes were suspicious and were discarded, they would simply change their patterns (but still vote unfairly)
I agree with the sentiment, but not sure it would work tbh

It is done by software, not by humans. I believe that the system has been updated at least a couple of times since I have been here, but I doubt if anyone knows the info you are asking for. I don't feel anyone needs to know it.

If you're voting fairly and on at least 20% of the challenge, your votes won't be discarded, even if you tend to vote very low or very high. At least that's how I understand it to work. |

I think that's how we all think it works but without transparency ... how do we know?

I made my living designing and building software. Any software that operates without it's owners knowing the results it produces, is headed for trouble. Bad design at best. Perverted outcome at worst.
I renew my call for transparency. |

It's not necessary, and less likely. |

It's too late, Dr. Confuser, your worst fears have been realized... the computers have already taken control.
