I am trying to prepare my photo to submit for this weeks challange. (it is my first submision). I have the trail version of CS2. I was following the tutorial for preparing you photo for submision, but when I got tried to go to "image>mode>convert to profile" there was no button for "convert to profile". I decided to skip that and try to save it for the web, but when i went to click on the "save for web" tab, it was gray and i could not click on it.

The photo should be in sRGB i believe...which was probably what you shot it at in the first place. Just make sure it's like 640 pixels...

As far as a "Save for web" tab, I think you just want to click File, Save for Web...no tab or anything to be grayed out. that help?

you might have to use the save as function instead. If this gives you a different looking colored photo because you couldn't change the profile, you're gonna need to do something else. Here are your options. download another free program, there are a few. Look for an online photo editer. Or print screen your finished product, and paste it into ms paint, or similar, and save to jpeg there. Unfortunately it might have heavy compression doing it that way.

Unless you have changed your camera presets, the image is already in sRGB color mode.

If "save for web" is not enabled in the trial version of CS2, then just do a "save as" jpg and slide the compression arrow until you get around 145Kb size; you need a little extra because the EXIF data will be piggybacked on if you can't use "save for web", which strips the EXIF.

When you go to submit it, if it is larger than 150Kb the dialogue box will tell you by how much. You can go back to CS2 and save it again at a slightly lower compression to bring it in under the limit.

Ok...I figured out how to do the compression, but my image says it is in RGB not sRGB. Is there any differance?

RGB is the mode, sRGB is a profile -- check Profiles under your Preferences to see what profile you are using.
