are they any good ... i'm thinkin bout getting one for my sigma 70-300 mm .. anyone tried that ?

Teleconverters? if so then yes. with some drawbacks. I just purchased a 2x quantaray from wolf and it works great on manual focus has trouble when zoom is close to the 300mm range. I tend to use it mounted on a tripod due to I shake too much.. The only other issue is you lose a couple of stops due to the teleconverters some better than others. But all in all a low cost way to get more zoom out of your zoom.
