Two cameras, same price (due to a special on the Canon).
Pentax K100 advantages - anti-shake, better viewfinder, takes all Pentax lenses (a huge lineup), better build (or so I've heard), better kit lens (or so I've heard), AA batteries (important for long trips).
Canon 350D advantages - more MP (8 vs 6), slightly better image quality, takes all Pentax lenses anyway if you buy a converter, takes Nikon lenses with yet another converter, some really good Canon lenses available if I suddenly become really rich (which I'm unfortunately not planning to do. So this is not really a plus for me), AA batteries possible if you buy the battery grip, plus it's already out unlike the Pentax.
The ease of use seems to be about the same with both cameras (not amazing, but good).
So I guess overall it's - anti-shake plus a better viewfinder versus a brand name and a bit more MP.
Help me!!! I can't decide! :(
Also I would appreciate information about the quality of the build and durability of the Rebel XT and existing Pentaxes. Any potential mechanical problems? I want to use the camera during backpacking/cycling trips where it won't be pampered. I guess Pentax's anti-shake is a potential liability here. |
