Sadly, an excellent Swedish photographer (Martin Adler) was shot today on the job in Somalia on contract with British "Channel 4". Martin Adler worked in the past for the Norwegian newspaper VG amongst many others. He has over time with strong pictures documented war in many African countries.

Attached is a link of a picture posted in todays newpaper (VG). Please be warned that it is strong as it shows Martin Adler as he falls over immediately after he was shot. May he rest in peace...

My heart breaks for him and his family.

I've known a few photograhers hurt or killed on the job. The world can be a dangerous place for jounalists.

This is a very great loss. He was a wonderfully skilled photojournalist, one I've long admired. See an extensive collection of his work here.

I was shocked to hear this, and it makes me very angry as well.
