Biggest piece of advice:
Learn everything you can about light. Light is the brush with which you paint. Whether you use God's light or roll your own, you have to know what the light is doing.

Best piece of advice I give to all. Read the rules then throw them away...! Rules are great to get you going but never rely on them as rules are meant to be broken. Now go out there and take heaps of photos...you will get used to what settings you like and how to use them to your own ability.

Attention to detail; notice what's in your frame beyond and around your main subject. Break off that twig, remove that speck of lint, wait for that car to pass, shift your angle a touch. |

Rule one - Decide what the photo is about and eliminate distractions in the composition - don't crowd the frame with elements that don't contribute to the overall impact of the photo. Along with good lighting this is the major difference between a snapshot and a great photo. |

Nude models...but they have to be hot...if they are just good looking then that is the difference between the Great and just alright...and probably something about that light stuff Leroy stated.
