Ok you WinXP guru's... I want to see if I can start making up some nice little Calendar packages for my Grandparents... Something for use with the WinXP backgrounds...
I found some free apps that allow you to have automatically rotating backgrounds based on intervals...
They are shareware though... Of course, at this point, this is just for my family, so there is no commercial value here, but I was thinking of setting something up on the computers at work too...
And I might charge them a small fee to do it... Is this considered Commercial or non-commercial use? I would probably make a CD of pics with a backup copy of the installer .exe. I wouldn't be changing anything in the application and I would still be giving credit to the original author... I would also not be charging for the application, just for the pics... The application would be on the CD as a companion app...
Is there a way to set up automatically rotating Desktop Background pictures in WinXP without any further apps? This might be a good thing..
I already have schedulers for automatic pop-ups... I'm not sure how to install those schedulers so they can be copied over though... they are a little complicated because they only work when the computer is on if there is no user password... |

Microsoft has a automatic wallpaper changer for WinXP, as part of the their PowerToys package. (link)

No problem, the PowerToys are not supported, so they are not promoted either -- one of those things you have to know is there.
As a followup, putting the installer on the CD would likely be a copywrite violation -- Microsoft has the right to distribute, but even if it's free they don't have to grant redistribution rights. Not sure if they allow it or not. But since it is only for WinXP and available on their website, a link would likely work just as well as the installer.

Thanks... I will save the HTML as a link and it will take them right to the 'Genuine Advantage Peekaboo Are Your Pirating You Better Not Be' website...
Everyone I know that uses WinXP got it with their computer, so it's no big deal... :)
I've been playing around with it... I noticed that the longest duration you can have a background on the computer is a week, so that means that I need to make a lot more pics... I wish it was a month... There's a neat thing that allows you to have special and special days associated with special BG pictures... I like that... |
