have seen Bower SFD35C very cheep on ebaylink and was wondering if anybody had any info have googled all over and can't find any info and have never heared of the brand??

basicly will this flash let me shoot faster then 1/200?

I've got this flash, and I basically like it. Its biggest weakness with Canon is that it doesn't have a selectable manual mode - it ALWAYS shoots E-TTL, unless you physically block off the E-TTL pin on the hot shoe. You cannot turn the power up or down. It's all E-TTL.

That said, for the price, it's the best Canon E-TTL available that I know of. Head rotates well and it rotates a LOT. The zoom is manual only, but it works okay.

As to shooting faster than 1/200, that's more of a camera issue. The flash "on" time is something like 1/4000, I think, not positive, but the camera cannot sync that fast. You'll need a higher end camera to go to really fast syncs.

I would prefer a Canon 550EX, but simply cannot afford one right now.

And just so you know, the Bower is pretty cheap at //www.adorama.com, as well, and you run a lot less risk than you do with ebay. I think they're only 80 bucks or something like that brand new.
