I have a question that I'm almost certain is covered somewhere on the site - I just haven't found it yet... (and I did a forum search, but the words "challenge","selection","theme" and "choice" popped up way too many irrelevant results).

Anyway, what I wanted to know is who chooses the challenge themes?

The reason I ask is because I've noticed that for the past couple of weeks there have been a number of ...II or ...III challenges. Why is there a trend towards repeating previous themes at the moment?

I don't think there is anything wrong with that - there are some great previous challenges that I'd like to have a go at myself - but I was just curious why there are quite a few of them popping up now, and curious as to how the themes are selected. Is it an SC decision?

I'm pretty sure that is in the hands of the admins, mainly Langdon. I've read that SC has no previous knowlege of challenges, unless it requres some special circumstances.

Langdon chooses them. Nobody knows what they will be beforehand except for Langdon.

I think he uses a big dartboard to pick them :)

I was thinking more of a monkey and a cookie jar.

Hmm.
I wonder, why he would come up with a ...II- or a ...III-challenge. Because he doesn't know another theme, or because he liked the first challenge of that theme, or because it was mentioned in the forums..?
