Do you know of a web based service, that helps you create a flash website that you manage yourself? I would like to be able to edit it and upload photos.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure no site that builds flash-based sites exist. Macromedia and now Adobe have a monopoly on Flash creation software.

There may be some pre-built flash swf files that can parse a directory to display photos in that directory, but I'm not sure where to find them. Even if you find them, I'm not sure they'd fit the bill for a site for a photographer.

I'm curious though, why are you only considering flash-based galleries?

Swish (poor man's flash...but creates flash swf files) has templates...
Look under Swishsites to see the templates.

Swish Zone

Dynamic Swish sites are the easiest to maintain. Edit a text file with you picture names and upload along with pics and it works.

You still need SwishMax to do some basic mods to get the whole thing running.

Ed: What I have running now My site is a lightly modded Swishsite... I got Swishmax and a Swishsite from them for about 90 bucks. SwishMax is a heavy, heavy program and one could get really good at it if they put in some time.

Have you looked into SimpleViewer, a free flash-based gallery?

I was building a Flash actionscript driven CMS system to enable anybody to easily build their own Flash websites. I had huge hopes for it, but I just ran out of steam in the end. My developing photography career didn't help either.

I use pbase.com...$25 a year and 300Mb of space. easy to manage and you change the look with stylesheets.
smugmug is another option.

breezebrowser pro ($70) will make galleries as well - then you upload to your webspace. lots of options, proofing or galleries or even paypal-cart supported sales.
