I bought it because I need it for my business. It wouldn't be that big of a deal. except i needed to license it on 4 machines. So final total after tax was nearly 3 grand. Trust me when I say that doesn't help my profits much.
Really if you have no problems spending 700 dollars on a plastic 5 inch plastic circle I got a whole box of them here I can give you a great deal on them.
But you still bought it. So why are you bitching. If you don't like the price don't buy it.
This remionds me of when people that bitch about how much athletes make. But yet they are wearing a Team shirt and hat and go to many games. If you don't agree with something then don't support it. [/quote]

It is decent of you to throw out a heads-up but for a title that 5 versions back in time i dont think anyone would be the wiser.
I just paid 700 dollars for Photoshop CS2 about 3 months ago. If anyone is getting ripped off It is us people who have to pay outlandish prices for a software that claims to be updated each new version but other than a few tweaks to the interface nothing really changes. especially the high price.
Some will say. It wouldnt cost so much if people didnt pirate it. Well alot of people wouldnt prirate the software if it wasn't so exspensive in the first place. |
That's like saying that buying a 72 inch plasma screen TV from the back of a van at the local gas station for 200 bucks is OK... After all, if they didn't charge 8000 bucks for one you'd already have one!
Oh yeah, and downloading music for free is OK too! |
Yeah but whatif you could make an exact copy of the 72" Plasma TV that didn't cost anything to produce and left the original intact in the store? What you are referencing or trying to refernce is theft the issue at hand is copyright infringement. |

| Thanks for finally giving me an answer guys. Wow some people on this site are way too serious sometimes though. I have GIMP btw so I guess I'll just stick with that seeming how Elements 4.0 is so old. |

I didn't see that you said it was PS Elements 4.0. No, that one is new. PS4 is old. Your original post said it was Photoshop 4, so we assumed you weren't talking about Elements.

With this new information, NO, I don't believe it will work. It is not the question on whether you have the disc or not, it is the activation code that you'll need to register with Adobe to unlock the copy.
Now, this was necessary for CS2, and for eralier version of elements, I'm not sure about Elements 4.0 |

A PC computer, $400
A digital camera and lenses, $2500
A pirated copy of CS2, $2 (for the disk)
Ethics: Priceless!
back to the OP - you can most likley drag and drop his PS subdirectory to your computer and it'll run. It does with Ver 7 anyway.
And Adobe can pick any image of mine for the box of the next release of CS and I won't charge them.

that activation stuff started with XP, and software that came later. I have been told that you can buy the upgrade version of CS2 and install it over any previous version of PS and you are now legit - it doesn't verify the status of registration on the earlier version of PS, only that it's there. So several people have told me.
And if it's like XP, you can install and activate it several times (XP is good for 10 I'm told).

Sounds about right for XP... I recently had to call MS for activation on one of my machines, wasn't hard.
CS2 is good for 3 machiness.

I updated my computer (a few times) and once XP popped up this message "Machine configuration has been altered since original activation. YOu need to reactivate XP"
jeez...all i did over a 2 year perios was some more memory, bigger hd a couple of times (once the C drive, then hat was replaced with a bigger D), addded a CD burner then a DVD burner, took out the zip drive and upped the processor speed and changed the MB/processor when it fried. Same box, same floppy drive. I think the power cord is the same too. KBD, mouse and monitor all changed though...vid card still antique thoough (4.5 years old!). Picky picky picky MS.
