Hi All,

My first entries in to my portfolio (non-challenge of course):

First of all, what you think?

Second (and most important), what noise reduction plug-in would be best to use to process out that ugly noise in the sky?

Cheers,

I think you'll find that you're going to get pretty equal answers of Neat Image or Noise Ninja.

My preference is Noise Ninja.

Since it's the sky you could run some gausian blur over it to to reduce the noise.

I use a PC program called PictureCooler -- it used to be free, but I think there's now a small charge for it. I've never used either of the other two popular programs, so I don't know how it compares directly. but it's pretty easy and intuitive to use.

You might see if cNet has a review of NR software, or one of the photo review sites ...

I use NoiseWare Pro. There is a free version that does everything the Pro version does, but the file output formats are limited to jpg.

I thought I replied to this yesterday, but today my reply isn't there.

My message yesterday was talking about smart blur available in some applications, which is a simple noise removal, but not that great. Maybe OK for skies, where there is no real detail. PaintShopPro (my editor of choice also has built in noise removal, which works OK. I've been using it for a while. Again, it's good for low detail areas, and much better than Smart blue.

But, after my posting (albeit a phantom post), I checked out NoiseNinja, and I was so impressed that I bought it. It's really easy to use, and the results are great. I went for the Pro Version for the batch option, but the home version is quite reasonably priced, and the results are well worth it.
