i was wondering if any of you could give me an idea what time of day has the best light for photographing outdoors. a friend asked me to photograph her granddaughter, and i don't know what time of day the light would look best. i don't want harsh sun so that the child would be squinting.
any suggestions???

| early or late in the day is always the best, but it's true that kids don't "not squint" very well. Some overcast or mild shade will help with that. |

| it depends, but i think a portrait is better with something extra. i mean for example, reflectors, diffusers if the sun is harsh things like that |

| Adults, kids, pets, etc... portraits will work best when shot in early light (well before noon), late light (just before sunset) or even better.... a shady spot under trees during bright light. True a reflector will give you the nice direction of light you want, but overall, full shade will give better results than dappled light or full sun. |
