had my first corrupted CF card yesterday

i have downloaded 3 so far
1)"Flash File Recovery " useless could acess the card
2)"PC INSPECTOR File Recovery" clamed to recover - but no software can read the files
3) "Photorescue" still working .....

these are not critical files & i'll be happy to pay the 30-50$ for software that WORKS ..

Zero Assumption - not fast, but very very thorough, and free

I have not tried PhotoRec myself but I have heard good things about it. Also free.

sorry to hear about your probs - what happened?

I have not had any issues - so far. Canon's use DOS to write to CF cards - perhaps it's MS is more robust than macophiles give them credit for? :P

not sure what happened
I could have shut it off to soon after a burst of high speed images
but i'm sure there were images taken after words (not high speed)
just about to take the last couple of images at a picnic & the card came back as "For" (format) :(

This is a Kingston 50x 2gig card .. & has worked flawlessly for 3 months ...

most camera mfg use the dos file system, formally fat16, most are fat32 now - the translation happens in the card readers interface - so host OS doen't matter ..

i'll retract a earlier statement
2)"PC INSPECTOR File Recovery" clamed to recover -
but no software can read the files

really did recover the files - it had a setting to max the file size which was set to trunkate the files
most files are recovered (think 3 were corrupted beyond recoverability ..)
