OK here is the final tab, I am going to hit the submit order button tonight after thinking this over real hard today.
Canon
EOS 20D, 8.2 Megapixel, SLR, Digital Camera (Camera Body)
Canon
Remote Switch RS-80N3 for Canon EOS Cameras - 2.6'
Tamron
Zoom Super Wide Angle SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II LD Aspherical [IF]
Sigma USA
Zoom Telephoto 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG APO HSM Autofocus Lens for Canon
Canon
BG-E2 Vertical Grip/Battery Holder for EOS 20D & EOS 30D Digital
Sigma
EF-500 DG Super E-TTL II Shoe Mount Flash
Its just a touch over my budget but I figure I'll be paying it on the Bill me later and have 90 days to get it paid for so I should be OK.
Edit to add, I went back to buying the 20D to keep it closer to my budget. I dont really see that much difference between the 2 cameras to justify the 300 dollar difference. I know the screen and the selectable ISO. But from what I can tell they handle noise so well it wont really be a problem. I'd just as soon put the money into lens.
$2,791.90 Sigh..........Now I have to sell my Olympus stuff.

I believe it's not allowed for them to conduct business no matter if they personally do it or not. It's the same reason they don't hire people who can work on Saturdays to operate the store front. |

I find that it is a nice lense but it's definitely not as fast a focuser and more prone to searching. It also is not very wide on the 1.6 crops.
This might be a nice solution, comes in around $2,500 from B&H
$850 Tamron 200-500mm
$1,300 Canon 30D
$350 Canon 20mm f/2.8 (used)
$80 Canon 50mm f/1.8 |

Are the owners Jewish or Seven Day Adventists? |

Glad to see you made the purchase. I think you will be pleased. But keep in mind that most of the people here (me included) have never experienced more than the one brand of DSLR that they now own. You are starting on your second brand and so will have a higher level basis of comparison. I look forward to your conclusions after a fair amout of time to get familiar with your new gear.

Very jewish. Many of the NY camera places are run by jews, as is the jewelry biz. I'd rather have saturday as my 'day of rest' than sunday. Don't know how far they carry it, but i grew up next to baptists that viewed sunday as a day of rest - no yard work, no cooking even, just leftovers. back then no stores were open on sundays so that was not an issue.

congrats! Some people like the grip, some don't. previous to the 30D you'd want it for battery life but since hte 30D will go 1200+ shots on one battery it's not a necessity anymore. Everything else looks good.
check out the //www.fredmiranda.com buy and sell forum=-extremely active and no ebay fees - you might sell some stuff there before trying ebay, or put a FS ad up here. it's best to sell stuff seperately.
You got the stuff i wanted...i'm jealous! :)
