If I remember correctly it will not show until the challenge is over. |

Dumb question - but the shutter should be 1/30 or 0.3"?

don't know what my camera 'goes to' but there's a [bulb] option (I've never understood that word in this context), which means the shutter stays open until I release it. |

It hearkens back to the good old days when an air bulb was squeezed and that would activate the shutter, releasing the bulb would close the shutter.
Pneumatics :)
From Wikipedia (ie- it may be wrong, but this is generally correct):
--- Begin Wikipedia---
Bulb is a shutter-speed setting on an adjustable camera that allows for long exposures under user control. When set on "B", the shutter will stay open as long as the shutter release button remains depressed. The "T", or Time, setting, on the other hand, requires one press to open the shutter and a second press to close it.
The term "bulb" is a reference to old-style pneumatically actuated shutters; squeezing an air bulb would open the shutter and releasing the bulb would close it. When instantaneous shutters were introduced, they included a B setting so that the familiar bulb behavior could be duplicated with a cable release.
The bulb setting is usually used for exposures with a duration longer than a few seconds or even longer than the 15 second setting that is the maximum setting possible with some cameras' shutter priority setting.
On many digital cameras, the bulb-mode will be accessible from the LCD menu only, if possible at all.
Because of the risk of camera movement, the camera is most often mounted on a tripod for the duration of the exposure. To further reduce the risk of camera shake, the camera's shutter is triggered by the use of a cable release or electronic remote. The cable release often has some kind of lock that can be used to keep the shutter release depressed for the duration of the exposure.

I'm in for 30 seconds.. :-) At least noone could really argue that a photo is a DNMC in this challenge. Bokeh is gonna be a low scorer IMO, because of lack of consensus.
However, I think I'll be seeing a validation request for my image in 30 seconds or more.

I'm in for 30 seconds. I may see a validation request. I've never had one before. I'm not sure how my entry will be judged. I have no prediction whatsoever what my score will be. But, I REALLY like what I did, and that's all that matters. It is one of my all time favorite photographs that I have ever taken, and I am going to frame it and hang it on my wall. So there!
