Yep, I think we should have a no editing challenge for and Open Challenge.

Just straight from the camera.

Wouldn't that be interesting?

If you check the previous challenge suggestions, I think you'll find quite a bit of discussion about this topic.

Seems like this comes up once a month or so. It has been done once before. I really don't care to see it done again myself.

It should actually be worded no post processing since all jpeg images are already edited coming from the camera.

well shoot, so much for that idea lol. I don't have time to go through all the pages to see when it was done. Must have been before I was I joined.

Can you link me to the challenge itself? I'd like to check it out.

The Future

The Past

One was no editing restrictions and the other was straight from camera.

thanks scalvert!

I just like to see what things look like before all the adjusting of curves, sharpening, ect. Always interesting.

I find it interesting that most of the high scores from that challenge (3 years ago) are still familiar names today.

The idea for a no editing challenge comes up periodically in the forums. Usually has some pretty good support, and sound arguments why it should be tried. But it never happens. So my conclusion is that someone in power, either on SC or admins, is adamantly opposed to the idea and prevents it. I used to argue fervently and still think it would be interesting, but have just about given up hope that we'll ever see it.

The SC don't have any say on what challenges are run. I suspect what's more likely is that it's in the database and just hasn't been picked yet.

We (SC) have neither a say in nor foreknowledge of the challenge topics before they are posted for all to see by the admins.

We sometimes have to discuss how to structure an upcompong challenge, but we try to keep the "challenge" equal for everybody.

So there was one before? What was it called?
