why everytime i submitted a diffused or soft image, i got a lot of comments that my submission is blurry or out of focus...the softness of the image is intentional, im using diffuser filter or using the gaussian blurry effect of photoshop. |

Edwin, my best guess is that the blur does not appear intentional. Maybe its too much or not enough or just doesn't interact well with the overall picture.

Or if the blur is intentional, it's not adding to the overall image.

I'm kinda fond of soft focus myself, and have submitted several. Every time I have had several comments say the same thing - that the image is out of focus or blurry. One of my last shots, Nightly Waiting in the inside looking out challenge, someone even suggested I check the settings on my camera.
I've got to the point now where I find it humorous. There are some people who are aware of, and appreciate, intentional soft focus, and there are those who just dont understand it. As have been said many times, you can either submit something you like and hope others like it too, or else you can submit something that people will a) think meets the challenge, and b) contains an effect that everyone will know about.
Personally, I like soft focus photographs!

dude -- you got screwed. i thought sure your rain shot would place. i definitely had it in my top 3.
look on the bright side, though: it's a new personal best. I just (FINALLY) placed a new image in my top 5 -- something I've been struggling to do for 4 months now.
and whatever you do, DON'T STOP the soft focus thing. if your photos look best to you that way, keep going! i think it would be a shame to sacrifice what you think is best for the sake of "succeeding" on the site.
personally, if i see one more bug or flower macro i'm gonna throw up. please continue to make your unique contributions!
