We like our Fugi 601Z but we have problems with the flash...How should we set it to avoid red eye? Should we do anything beside the red eye setting? Thanks

Red-eye occurs in low light situations. The irises in the eyes widen to compensate for this. The red blood vessels are lit by the flash and the so call "demon eyes" occur.

The only other way of compensating is to have the person look at a brighter light source, thus causing the irises to become smaller and let in less light. The problem with this is that you can harm your eyes.

I usually hold my left hand at an eleven oĆ¢€™clock position and have everyone look at my hand and smile. The fact that they are not looking straight at the flash seems to reduce the problem. If that fails, you can always edit it out in Photoshop.

I used to have a 601 and had the same trouble with red eye. It`s because the flash is so close to the lens. I don`t get red eye with the 602.
Photoshop is the only cure.
