Ok - last week I had the biggest scare of my life - my D200 was not securely plasced on my tripod and I moved it and it fell to the ground. It landed directly on the lens shattering the lens hood and putting a small dent in the lens filter.
My question is should I take it some where to be looked at? Is there anything that a camera store can look at to see if something was damaged that I just apparently can't see? I took about 1000 pics over the week after I dropped it and it seems OK - but could there be something lurking.....

Sounds like its working fine... don't forget to check your flash too though.
Thats one advantage of a lens hood, something to slow the camera down a bit when you drop it (if you're lucky enough for it to land on the hood).
I imagine if there was a problem you would have discovered it already, like the lens not focusing, shutter/mirror not moving, or flash not firing. Looks like you probably got lucky, or the D200 is just built like a tank as I've heard people say... |
