I'm starting a small photography/art/design business, partially because I've been doing art stuff for people for a while now anyway, but mostly cause I'm desperate for a steady cash flow :-P

Either way, I'll be doing Weddings, Portraits, Commercial photography,Pet photography, and Photo restoration, along with graphic design (book covers, illustrations, album art, logos etc).

My question is: How much do I charge for a Wedding, Portrait shoot or commercial shoot? I have no idea....at all....none :-P Do you charge by the hour? I don't have a studio, so it would mostly be location shoots.
My website is under consrtuction and should be online in a couple of weeks.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

oh geez...

You gotta charge what your work is worth. You really should get a book on pricing, or check out some of the software available for that. You need to calculate your costs, how much your time is worth, and go from there.

It's hard for me to imagine someone hiring a 15-year-old to shoot weddings... The rest of that stuff, sure... But the pressure in a wedding shoot is immense; you only have one chance to get it right.

Prices for these things are all over the map. It depends on your skill level, it depends on your "name recognition" factor, it depends on your market, it depends on so many things.

Yeah, I know...my age does put me at a disatvantage. My dad's a pretty well know photographer on the island tho. I might pull the wedding service off until I have some more expirience.
I just got done with a commercial shoot for Koa Rockers tho, which I'm gettin $100 for.
