I personally think she is crying over a rule that s there for us all. If one bends it a little, then everyone will want to bend it a little more and before you know it the whole system breaks. She new the rules before she started submitting or at least should have. Now she has to deal with it. Besides this really is only the business between the photographer and SC here.

You guys (SC) do a great job. Thank you for not bending the rules just because someone is out of town.

Why isn't this shot disqualified...

"3 colored eggs shot in natural light on a tripod. Their shapes were altered in PS, then a glass texture was added on top."

Says right there that she altered pixels in a basic editing challenge...How can that be allowed...such a blatant violation of the rules? Just curious?

Notification of a request for an original is not entirely dependent on email -- there is also a notice posted on one's home page when they log into DPC. Everyone "signs" (with a checkbox) an acknowledgement that they've read and will abide by the rules when they upload their entry.

You should submit a request for validation -- don't post it here for speculative discussion. We can't validate/DQ unless someone requests it.

how do you request validation on a photo that isn't currently in a challegne?

I usually just shoot a pm to SC under the contact menu with a link to the photo

I thought there was a button, but in any event, it looks like it's already been done, so we should have an answer to your question pretty soon.

Look at some random photo's page and see if there's a link (probably on the left under the photo tech info) to request one -- sometimes we (SC) see the pages differently than users do.

Yes, that link is only for the SC. You have to submit a ticket once the voting stage is over.

What is her user name?

Is this all for real?

Three DQ's in 3 entries. From someone who has only been a member for 15 days??? I'm beginning to wonder if someone is trying to make a "point".

Each case has used a different part of the rules to test but enough information has been left to make sure that we know the entry has pushed the boundaries.

I'm fairly certain that's not just a coincidence. Rose, is that you?

Brett

Nah I don't think she was a good enough photographer to place third here. Just my opinion and not trying to be mean.

Yeah, enquiring minds and all... :)

Rose is a former DPC member and honestly, I see no reason to drag her name into this. I think Kiwipix was just trying to make a joke but what it looks like is just a new member who didn't take the time to read the rules before submitting.

I guess they won't be submitting for a while anyway...I can't remember how long the suspension is for 3 dq's, and I'm too lazy to look.

Yes, a series of unfortunate events. It's too bad :(

Just a fyi, if you go to www.gotomypc.com you can buy ot just try a program that lets you access your home computer from any computer, from any place. It's a bit of a pain because it's slow but I am accessing my computer in California from PA.

Pffft.

C'mon, I never read the rules. But, I knew right from wrong. Its really not that hard.

You mean if you see an infraction you can't do anything about it unless someone else picks it up and asks you to?

One might consider that perhaps the person first language is NOT English and may have misunderstood some of the rules.

From what I can work out, that doesn't apply in this case.

Her comments indicated that she responded to the e-mail she was sent. My own experience has been that these responses are silently ignored. Can somebody comment on whether these responses actually go to somebody?

In any event, I agree with her comments that the system is broken. Replying to the e-mail should go to the sender of the message.

Sorry, m, but if I would have received an email from her, I would NOT have silently ignored it. That is just almost offensive for you to say. She probably tried to answer my email (PM) by hitting "reply", and that doesn't work when it is a PM.

I had thought about that, especially since she's from Montreal. I'm anglophone. It seemed to me that she was able to communicate in English. It could be though.

I mean we can't automatically see the infractions -- we don't look at every picture, and we generally can't read the photographer's comments until after the voting either.

If a member spots an (possible) infraction, the correct procedure is to submit a validation request (submit a Ticket under the Help > Contact menu) including a link to the photo in question. DON'T post it for discussion in the public forums. We do the same ourselves if we just happen upon a possible violation while looking at pictures, but we don't review them all systematically.

Yeah it looks like there's an ulterior motive here judging by her posts.
