I was reading through my past blogs tonight, found this one and decided to share it.

"March 01

Humbled, yet excited...

WOW... I've just spent the past several hours in the photography challenge site that DM steered me to, and now I'm oversaturated, overexposed and my eyeballs ache! There's just so much incredible talent, experience and knowledge there that it leaves me grasping for superlatives. I feel like a child, crayon in hand, dreaming of creating amazing things. I realise now just how little I know, how tiny my steps are so far, and how long is the road ahead of me. But I'm excited, too, because already I have learned SO much there, both by trying to analyze the pictures myself and by reading the comments left by others.
I've only voted on one challenge so far and the results to it were posted tonight. I went through all the photos again, comparing my votes and comments against the rest, and was pleased to see that on almost all of them I was within one each side of the popular vote and that the things I'd picked up on were usually seen by others too. But I also learned many other details to watch for and picked up practical technical tips on lighting, backgrounds and such.
The challenge for my own first entry closed tonight, so now I wait nervously through the voting period.... I expect to finish near the bottom, but this time that's okay with me! Fear of failure has always been one of the biggest things holding me back from trying anything, but this time rating low won't be a failure, but will (I hope) be a valuable learning experience. I'm actually looking forward to the critiques and the opportunity to apply them.
I've yet to look through all the entries in my category and vote, but the few I did see lead me to expect some great photos, and tomorrow.... several more hours wandering lost and rapturous.....
*contented sigh...* "

Wow...that was great...it should be an advertisment of sorts for the site as it somes up the passion within.

Okay, I exposed myself in a way I don't usually do, and this is why.

yeah, I can vividly remember the very first day I was introduced to DPC by a friend of mine. I still remember the first few pictures I saw that just blew me away. Right then and there I decided that this was something I had to do. That was a couple of years ago, and I'm still here plugging away. The amount of information I've absorbed from this place is unbelievable, but even so, there always seems to be more where that came from. I love this place! :)

yup yup yup. i'm the DM who infected beecee with the DPC bug. i don't regret it at all! i've actually taken a break from my blog to concentrate on my photography, as i have a solo show coming up in ... seven weeks. argh!!!!!

i've learned so much from this site, and my phtography has improved immeasurably. it's all well and good to have a degree in the stuff, but if you don't use it porperly, you may as well never have gone to university!

so, thanks again for all the insipration and advice, DPC denizens!
