Hmmmm - are we ready for this again???

I took some today, but wondering how they'll be perceived. To me shadow has a broad definition. What do you guys think?

My entry to this will be but a shadow of my entry in "Shadows II"

I think I'm just going to do what I'm gonna do and then put any "what is a shadow" arguments on ignore.

I plan to shoot mine tomorrow - have all day to try a few different ideas.

I tried something, but not sure if I'll get slammed, due to some comments in a past shadows challenge. BUT, having said that, the populous has changed so much, I have no idea.

Hmmmmm Maybe I'll think about it a bit longer.

Yours in the shadows,

J

mine has shadows but they dont stand out, and there are several rather than one dark stand out. i hope i dont get DNMC votes because i LOVE this photo. I'm far too emotionally attached mayeb I should turn off my scores for the week. lol.

But does a silhouette count as a shadow... would it be well received or counted as DNMC.... dilemmas... dilemmas

Since this challenge was posted, the skies here have been nothing but gloomy. I can't do any of my ideas.

You mean the actual person or thing as a silhouette? I'm pretty sure it won't be considerd a shadow unless you photograph it in such a way that viewers looking at it think it's a shadow.

I agree with you Richard....but from memory, on a previous challenge this discussion came up and somehow (don't ask me how) someone proved that a silhouette is a shadow...!! LOL!!

That's crazy talk! My shadow is always by my side not on top of me! :P

Crazy...I know. A silhouette is....a silhouette. A shadow is...a shadow!!

Remember folks, every photo that isn't pure white or pure black is composed only of light and shadow. Except for a pure white image, every possible photo will contain shadows. So from this point of view, it's a free study. Go out. Be creative.

I hereby grant permission to all entrants to shoe-horn in any such photo with a clever title. Not that my permission has ever been necessary in the past, but I'm sure it will make you feel much better!

I do not warrant the score will be good however.

I may be sticking my rather short neck out a tad here, but I seem to recall that one of the challenge winners in a recent "Shadow" challenge was not a shadow at all, but rather a cut out of what could have been a shadow.

Eureka...... I found it...and quite well done I might add.

As you can see...now that you have recieved authorization from Digital Quixote, the possibilities are endless....hheheheheeh.

I questioned that too, but honestly, you can't HAVE a silhouette without a shadow.

I think I'm not gonna make it to enter this one. Went out this evening to catch some long shadows made by a low sun, but the sun was shining through a flair of mist and there wasn't a shadow to be seen (sigh).
As I'm ahead in time where I live, I still have about 6 hours to make my shot, but....it's night and no full moon.
Have to think up something else, make my own shadow.

add: came accross an unexpected shadow tonight, so I'm in.
