I have started getting more serious about photography. I guess because I get around a lot, like to explore and satisfy my endless curiosity, or at least try to. So it was a natural extension for me to take pictures of what I see.

I can't really get an SLR at this time, as I have to limit the amount of stuff I carry around in my gipsy-style life. So I have a Canon PowerShot S2 IS, which is good allround for many things, good zoom, reasonable optics, it let's me take video's as well, record sound in stereo and more. If I wanted to upgrade, I might get an EOS 350D with a 75-300 (the short one) as well as a fixed wide of some sort. In any case I'll get myself a basic tripod soon, although it is going to take up space!

Anyway, to my pictures.

I think with my limited experience I manage to get a few good shots, and I feel I am getting better at it, especielly since I met a professional photographer who has helped me a lot and really sparked my interest.

What I'd like to know

Which pictures are good?
Which are bad?
Could some bad pics have been good with better post processing?

Most important - the reason for the above ..

I want to cut deep into my gallery, take all the lesser shots out, but it is often so that the shots I think are "lesser", are the ones other people tend to like!

So please do not forget to tell me WHY you like or dislike a certain shot!

Thank you in advance for your help,

Welcome! Your vocation provides a perfect opportunity for a photography hobby. I'm jealous. ;) Back when I had flying privileges, I was shooting disposables. You might not get instant responses to your port but for the longhaul you can't beat this site for learning. Good luck!
Watch out when you start entering challenges. You won't be able to get your proper rest on those layovers. The update button is addicting. :)

Well, now I have just entered my first challenge, so I will have to try that update button when the voting starts. I hope I have understood all the rules correctly so I will not get DQd. I find it confusing, what is meant by I cannot submit any text, not even a copyright notice, but I am encouraged to write about the post-processing steps? I took a shadow photo at night - so am I allowed to wite somewhere that is actually taken at nighttime (with long exposure?) Anyway, bear with me, I havee done all with best of intentions!

Also off to my first round of voting myself.

You can't put text on the image itself. You are encouraged to explain what you did in the text box on the submission page.

did you know you don't have to comment on every photo you vote for??? ...not that I'm telling you not to comment! but 'no comment' really does not help anyone and is wasting a bit of your time!!!

Welcome, enjoy & have fun!!!! :0)
