See my situation is the exact opposite. At work we bid for vacation in December for the entire following year, and the week of July 4 goes quickly! Hoping this works out... |

well,, I am thinking that the 4th July would be a definate. I assume that hotel bookings would have to be done early. I would also have to book my flight around what hotel i get.
So what if we make the DC night tour on the following weekend after the 4th Clara? I plan on arriving maybe on the Monday and staying through to the weekend then going to Virginia after that. I guess people can arrive anytime during that week when they can.

Ok, spoke to a travel agent here and they highly recommend booking a hotel and flight around January. Of course you guys know how busy it is there that week of July :)
So i will be booking in January. When I know what hotel I am staying at I will be sure to let you know as well. So if you want to stay there at all during that week I recommend booking as well.
Edited to add: I got a job!!!!!!!!!! that will help me save ALOT easier :)

Alright LISA! Yep having a job sure does make it easier to save up some cash :o)! Do you mean a job as in a photo shoot, or continuous employment?
Looking forward to joining you for Independence Day 2007 (wow that's a long way off). I predict this to be one of the longest threads in dpc'dom, maybe right up there with ALAMY: THE CHALLENGE, and (xx)th RANDOM PHOTO THREAD!

You know we are in just because we live here, we have really nasty summers here, hot, hazy and humid, but the nights can be decent. Last summers GTG was the last weekend in July and we had a beautiful night.
When we venture to DC on the 4th we never go to the Mall we have found the streets right near the Monument are usually less crowded and have tremendous views. Just an idea. Trying to see or photograph any of the of the memorials that night would be impossible. The nice part of doing the late night shoots are getting pictures of the monuments without hundreds of tourists. I would think that the week of the 4th would be close to Cherry Blossom week..
Gee I sound like Debbie Downer. On the bright side the fireworks are amazing. |

I'll come! Clara, can you make sure I have a wedding to shoot there too??? :P A girl can dream, can't she? But yeah, I'd be interested in coming. I vote for June because July and August are bloody hot!
