New York Street Scenes, '05-'06
Street Scenes Google Link
This might not be up for on the web long. There are a few flaws that are obvious but I'd like to know what you all think of the general vibe.
I've been working on this idea for around 6 months...no, more like 2 years and I still haven't taken all the right photo's but I think the concept has legs...
Let me know....?
..and thank you Eric Woo for hosting it.

Works for me and I find the "general vibe" to be way cool! Nice work Steve, I'm sure you'll get the right shots, looking forward to the finished product. |

I think it's good. People make it very personal and more emotive. It's good that you are not afraid to shoot people on the street. I had lady throw garbage at me once. I'm more of a landscape guy anyway.

Steve,
This is very nice. It definately give a different feel of NYC than the public, tourist persona. Good choice on the music, too.
Thanks for sharing it.

A wonderful idea and a great set of photos. Maybe a couple of background type shots to give it more context. There is the Times Square wideangle and one in the subway. Maybe a couple more.
And there isn't a single one of the Kodak POTD ... you must have hundreds of those.

one last bump...
Tony the KODAK shots aren't really a New York thing even though it (the billboard) does happen to exist in NY. Plus there are already enough pictures of Times Square floating around the planet...a few of which I took. Keep in mind I'm trying to find the city that people don't normally see or different angles of things that they thought they knew...if that makes sense?
I'll keep digging if people keep on looking...

I stopped by 49th and 9th yesturday. Your photos look great. I thought there will be more. You think there is a place for mine next to yours? Sorry I didn't call. I was in a rush.

For those interested or able to attend, I have 12 image exhibit hanging at a place called The Coffee Pot (corner 49th and 9th, Hells Kitchen NYC). Many of my images were taken within a 1/2 miles radius of the joint, so they resonate with the crowd that goes there, tourists and locals alike. They are a little too tightly placed on the wall but they wanted me to use the whole wall.
The image above was taken seconds after I finished hanging so I know...I know, they're tilted but you all get the picture. They could hang indefinitely based on sales and general interest...so please stop by if you're in the area.
Cheers!
