I shot a Girl Scout event at the zoo tonight. It was honestly the boldest I've ever been in shooting people, I'm normally very shy and awkward about asking to photograph a stranger's children since I never have anything that identifies me as someone who is affiliated with the Council in any way. Today I had a stroke of genius, though, and printed up a bunch of little slips of paper identifying me as a volunteer photographer and giving my name and the URL where photos can be viewed. These made all the difference in my confidence in approaching parents. Having something to hand them was an instant credential and I got the best Girl Scout shots I have ever taken.
