On my monitor it looks darn good.
Just be careful, the blacks may be dipping into the 'too black' zone, but your whites look pretty good.
just remember to have all your midtones anchored with textured blacks, and textured whites.
too white is blown out. too black is a hole.

I would be pleased as all heck if I had done the PP.
Excellent in my opinion! |

Looks great. I like it. Which method did you use to convert to B/W? Channel mixer, etc?

yeah, neat photo in color, but I definitely like it B&W better, adds interest... and colored one is a little easy to get distracted, the B&W has this calm attitude about it that I like |

From a purely technical sense it is a good black and white for these reasons:
1-A good solid black, blackpoint
2-A nice white, whitepoint
3-Good tonality (smooth greyscale ranges between white and black)

that is funny. I recently have been studying a wonderful little book about a photographer named Lewis Hine. He specialized in labour conditions in early 20th century life in America. His work is breathtaking and his photos are basically all shadows and highlights, with little in between. And it tells the stories so well.. Your stuff is the only work (jj's) that comes immediately to mind in this atttempt for b/w perfection.
