Trying to justify spending more $ on toys the choices are a 30D with a 10-22 lens or a 5D .
I thought I would post these half assed results just in case anybody is interrested in the difference between the cameras

20D 100mm 1/30 2.8 Iso 100 70-200 2.8 3Is lens

rebel 100 mm 1/30 2.8 Iso 100

5D 100mm 1/30 2.8 Iso 100

20D 22 mm 1/30 4.0 Iso 100 10-22 lens

rebel 22 mm 1/30 4.0 iso 100

I also tested the 30 d but I changed the ISO to 100 but I guess I made a mistake and set to 1600 :(

ISO at 100
30D 70 -200 lens

30D 10-22 lens

Cool. I wish there was store here I could go and play with stuff in. Huge FOV difference from the 5D's full frame sensor. I don't see much difference in the rest. Some people seem to be having focusing issues with the 30D after a couple of months of use. Maybe you should take thay into consideration when purchashing.

My advice has always been to go with optics over camera.

Having a great lens on an average camera is better than having an average lens on a great camera. Not that the 30D is average by any means.

I recently added the 10-22 EF-S lens to my collection. It is an awesome lens. For the price, I wish it was faster (wider aperature)

If you do opt for the 20D and the 10-22, bear in mind that if you decide later to get a 5D, the 10-22 will not work with it.

The 5D requires a lot more in a lens. Specifically, the edges matter. Check out this site //www.slrgear.com/reviews/index.php and look at the reviews of the Tamron 17-35 //www.slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/48/sort/2/cat/23/page/1 and the Canon 14-40 //www.slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/31/sort/2/cat/11/page/2

Note that they give charts for both croped sensors and FF, but you have to select the "full frame" tab. the difference between cropped sensors and full frame, and between Canon and Tamron is enlightening.

Ok so here is my conclusion to this shopping trip .
I just picked up the 10-22 mm lens
The 30 D To me is not worth the upgrade at todays market price .
The 5D and FF is nice but I think the 3 FPS just won't work for me.
Looking at these images full size ,there is s difference but a small one .
Not worth spending that kind of money IMO .
