| Sometimes when I use the patch tool (set on source) the result is darker and has a smeared gradient look to it. Has this happened to anyone and how do you fix it? |

Patch tool blends both the source and the destination together. If are getting a dark result then you probably have either a dark destination or source selection. Just be careful when (and where) you use the patch tool. Remember, it can't deal with all transitions and render them absolutely perfect. Same with the healing brush when cloning in areas composed mainly of hard edge blacks and whites (the result is gray).
Also, it would help if we could see an example.

| The healing brush does this if you apply it near a dark area - PS bleeds the dark into the healed area. eg A portrait on a black background - if you try remove a pimple on the edge of the face you'll see the healed area is too dark nearest the edge of the face. |
