We're getting ready to get some bada** thunderstorms and I'd like to try my hand at capturing lightning. In order to get a 30 second exposure I have to use full manual mode on my camera. Any other mode and I can only go up to 4 seconds. So, since I know next to nothing about manual mode what should my aperture be? According to my manual I have from F2.8 to F11 available in 1/3 EV increments in wide-angle and from F4.9 to Fll in telephoto. And yes, I will be using a tripod. Any other advise would be welcome as well. Thanks!!!! |

here is a quickie:
- put the camera on a tripod
- anticipate the next lightning
- set to 2 second self timer (reduce shake)
- set aperture to something small (F8?) shutter to something long (10 sec?)
- pray and good luck |
