Our cameras are doing the hard work. Aiming, setting, clicking... it's all done by us, but at the end they capture the images.

So, it would be only fare if we award our machines by having a challenge called "Self Portrait of our best cameras" or something like that.

Here are the suggested rules... Camera must take its own reflection from any shiny surface (or its shadow)... The photographer could be in the picture as well and with basic editing rules.

So... what do you say?

You mean like this?

Yes, this is a "self-portrait" albeit a less-than-stellar one. The post-processing outright sucks! Can anyone tell me how I achieved this? ;-)

Edit: I'd love a "camera" challenge where the subject could be any camera.

A couple of mirrors?

2 mirrors maybe... 1 being hand held, which is what the circular border is from.?

Don't worry, your camera's not that "cheesy."

on the contrary my friend, it could be only fare to those less "sexy" machines to show everyone what they can do :)

I entered this image in a contest elsewhere with the subject "Beauty" and title "Self Portrait". It didn't really go over well.

It would have done better if you would have reversed the image

That's what the challenge is... Using better imagination for your photos. Just like other challenges, reflect your camera from a water with drop waves, or from a shiny car, or a window... from a picture frame on the wall...

I think we can come out of something interesting, don't you think?

Well that's where my style of humor does me in. Yes, it can be reversed, in which case it would appear that another camera was used to take the picture. However I wanted the mirror image to emphasize the camera, in its vanity, was taking a picture of itself for the "beauty" contest. For the same reason the tripod mount appears in the picture.

IN any case, you're missing the obvious; had it been a CANON, your scores would have been through the roof. Everyone knows Canon's are more beautiful than Nikons...

Actually I'm considering a sticker that says "Canon" that I can paste on the camera in the future.

In this particular case, though, the contest was only open to Nikon cameras, which makes my vanity theme even more appropriate.

Actually, it wouldn't be a brand contest I think. I am not sure if I am making my point clear here. Some of the photos, you probably won't recognize the brand, yet it would be a very good shot... Just like other objects you take pictures of. Not everything in this world good looking, so as my signature says "Capture the beauty in everything"
