I recently attended a Kenny Chesney concert with a Cannon 20D and a 70-300mm lens. I was taking nice pictures of the opening acts when a person from Kenny Chesney's crew tapped me and said I can't use the camera I told him it was a camera and not a video camera he said I don't care you have a zoom lens and you can't use it. I told him I will keep it at 28mm and he said no and if you are caught using it again it will be taken away. On the tickets it says no video or recording devices allowed and it says on his fan site that cameras are allowed. I was very upset at this as I am very big fan of Kenny Chesney. I will be going to another concert of his and would like to take pictures but do not want to get hassled.

The only ways you are going to get photos is if you avoid security, or if you get Chesney's tour manager to tell the head of security at the venue to allow anybody to take photos.
This is quite standard.
Take it up on his fan site, and see if the tour manager will enforce the policy on the fan site.
