I was looking here on DPC to see some wide angle work..
the problem is ... photographers dont always write the focal length..
i would like to see some really wide angle shots.. coz i think im gonna go for 10-20 mm sigma.. and not the 15-30mm..
ill be glad if you guys can show off some amazing wide angle pictures..
im really curious how much distortion will you get at 10mm on the 30D..
does anyone find it annoying by the way...
and i have another question...
does anybody know anbout how all lenses react while you set them on not the widest focal length..
like id you take a shot at let say 10mm and then at 20mm does it mean youll get it less sharp? or narrow focus area? does it mean ill have to use higher f/stop..
thx

I can answer your last questions.
Usually wide lenses tend to have barrel distortion. This is evident in zoom lenes as well as fixed focal length lenses. But fixed focal length lenses are generally much better.
With zoom lenses, it is common to have barrel distortion at the wide end and pincushion distortion at the telephoto end. All lenses behave differently (sometimes even within the same model). Some will even mix pincushion and barrel distortion together.
Also, zoom lenses are generally not as sharp as fixed lenses. A lot of the time, a zoom will perform better at one extreme of the zoom range than the other. I'm not too sure how it is with the Sigma 10-20mm.
You usually don't need to use as small an apeture with wide lenses than telephoto lenses to achieve roughly the same depth of field.
I hope this helps you.
Someone correct me if I made a mistake here.
Editted for grammar.
