was out today, and gave the sprog my mum's coolpix p&s. he's nearly 3. o, we had the usual finger/lens issues, but he's go the idea,and was really considering his shots. by the end of the day (ok, when the cheap batteries in the camera died) he was looking closely at stuff and really aiming the camera.
oo, yeah. like lartigue.
start 'em young, that's what i say...

He'll be beating you in challenges by the time he's in kindergarten if you keep this up ;)
My brother bought me my first camera when I was 7. I think my kids were about 10 when we bought them theirs... hmm, maybe younger, I don't remember. |

| I give my 5yo my p&s when I go out now. Last weekend she took a bunch of pictures of the dog and my husband cooking. I was shocked when I uploaded them and they were straight and in focus lol. She LOVES taking pictures. |

At a wedding recently there were a whole bunch of disposable cameras on the tables for folk to snap with and then give to the bride and groom for processing. Naturally, these were used with gusto by the youngsters there.
Trouble is, the results were often a lot better than those taken by the adults, especially the candids!
And it kept the kids quiet, too, until the film and then the cameras an out. Then there was hell to pay!

We have been allowing my 3yr old supervised use of our digital rebel. He does really well centering up his shots and he looks specifically for things to take pics of. We want to get him his own digital p&s but aren't quite sure how much money we want to spend.We sure know that we dont want him having free reign over the Rebel though.

Sweet. It's cool the images they come up with.
My godson Samuel, my bro Jacko's son, has also begun early. He has a gallery on PBase
I can't wait to see what he'll come up with as he gets older

| Tim he does some excellent work! Very impressive. I won't let my 5yo touch my dSLR lol and she's 5. You're a brave man! |

| I got my daughter a olympus fe-120 for her third birthday in June. She has been begging for a camera. Who knows, maybe she'll start entering challenges :) |
