Hello:

I am, once again, submitting photos for a local competition. In the past, I've always had my color photos printed in matte, and any B&W pics printed glossy. I don't know why, but its just a preference of mine.

But what do y'all think about it? Am I right in my choices for a photo competition?

I think it comes down to personal preference. I like everything in matte unless the subject of the image leads me to glossy (i.e. something very shiny and reflective)

Not that it makes a difference here, but glossy photos scan (on a scanner) much better than matte or "lustre" or "satin" finished photos.

I prefer matte myself almost all the time.

I use "pearl" which seems to be a combination of gloss and matte and I really love the results.
