Being a relatively new Mac convert (1 year), I could use some suggestions.
I have a 1.8GHz iMac G5 with 2GB RAM.
Using Photoshop CS2, I get "spinning beachballs." When I check Activity Monitor, I see I am getting Pageouts, which, from what I gather, is like disk caching when you run out of RAM space.
Is there anything I can do?
I don't have a lot of programs open when this happens either.

When this happens, has PS been open for a long time without being closed? If so, it might just be Photoshop's poor cache management. PS seems not to release memory, and slowly works itself to a point where it has to page. |

Perhaps. I'll try closing it down more often. Thanks.

It also depends on the size of the file you're working with. Photoshop needs memory equal to about 4-5 times the file size. It has to store a complete copy of the file for revert, undo, the current state, etc.
