Hi
I am interested in learning about various accesories of strobe lighting. I mean what is the purpose of snoot, barn door etc

As far as snoots and barndoor go, they are both ways to control where light lands.

A snoot is mostly like a focusing tube that focuses the light into a beam.

Barndoors are basically flags that block light where you don't want it to be. ie, for lighting a background w/o the light hitting the subject.

You're welcome. My advice is to buy a few accessories at a time and play with them individually. That way you can get a firm grasp as to what each does, before trying really complicated setups.

Umbrellas and softboxes are a must have for portrait work. But snoots come in nicely for hair lights and barn doors for background lights. Also, pointing a snoot at the background behind the subject adds a nice center of focus to some shots.

Just try to keep it simple at first, so as not to confuse yourself.

Thanks alot for advice. I have a small Soft box and two Silver lined black Umbrellas
