im thinking to buy a 10-20 mm sigma...

i tried to look at some samples here in DPC for the barrel distortion...

i was just wondering if the owners of a really wide lens find the distortion too much in 10 mm ... is anybody advise is just to stick with like something with the same price the 17-85 IS?

is a difference between 10mm to 17mm on the 30D is that HUGE??!?!

ill be glade to have some advise...

there is some BD in the Canon 10-22mm but IMHO, it's forgivable if you use it for landscapes primarily. I sed it on an interior shot and it shows but not as much as I expected ;)

All shot ate the widest ;)

There again, you can always use it to your advantage ;)

The difference between 10 and 18mm is bigger than you might imagine.

at 10mm, there is a lot of distortion, but what else do you expect? That's really wide. The difference between 10 and 12mm is night and day...so the difference between 10 and 17 is just too great to even be compared.

Are you not considering the Tokina 12-24mm? It's a great lens.

This one was shot at 12mm.

I purchased the EF-S 10-22mm for my xt and love the lense. Lowest Distortion of all the similar lenses IE. Sigma Tonkna Tameron. I think Pop-Photo and a few other recent Mags had reviews on it. Also I did not drop out on the focus at 10 or 22 compaired to the rest. Downside it was priced about $200 more than the others. Plus it will only work on the 350d 20d and 30d. One thing to note According to the specs by Canon it is build on the same standards all L series lenses in the same range are build and focuses within so if you use a filter holder it will stay stationary. The waterfall is shot at 12mm and the markee is shot at 20mm You can look in my http.coronamv.zoto.com/galleries to see more. This is the one lense than does well at 10 and 22mm very low distortion.
