It look as if I will complete my personal goals here at dpc soon :) I've come up with more goals but don't expect these to be as easy as the last lot.

My new goal starting 21/05/2006 (which will probably last the rest of my photographic life) is to get at least one shot from each of my lenses in the top 30 list. The numbers in brackets next to each lens are the 'current' 30th placed shots.

I'm starting at the bottom of the list (for obvious reasons) and will tick that one off tomorrow, probably in the top 10.

Does anybody else do similar?

Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM (6.975)
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM (6.926)
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM (6.817)
Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM (6.765)
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro (6.716)
Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS (6.401)
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 I (5.27)

Hmmm - interesting, I hadn't looked at it this way before. Just have one lens in the collection to get up into the top 30.

43rd place using Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II - this will be difficult though.

Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM
Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro
Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 USM
Zenitar 16mm f/2.8 Fisheye MC in M42/EOS mount

I had never done that before but now that you mention it. I actually have a challenge photo in the top 10 of each lens I own. I realize the number of owners of your lens to mine are different. But I like your goals that you set for yourself.

Hmmm interesting indeed...

Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 - 7.907 (1st)
Tamron AF 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di LD - 6.284 (5th)
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro - 6.610 (36th)
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II - 7.216 (15th)
Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0L USM - 6.126 (85th)
Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM - 7.489 (2nd)

It will be difficult to break into the top 30 using the 70-200 and the 100mm macro but this makes for a great challenge. I'll aim for these loftier goals ;)

It would be easy for you to score the top spot with the Arsat tilt/shift since no body has submitted a photo with it:) by the way How do you like this lense? I was looking into a tilt/shift and at about $700 less than the canon one it seems like a great deal.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone with that lineup of lenses doesn't NEED any goals...

They ain't MY lenses, they are ecce_signum's lenses. I just checked and I have top 30 on 3 of mine:

Tamron 28-75mm, 16th.
Canon 10-22mm, 3rd and 24th
Canon 60mm Macro, 24th

ON the Canon 70-200mm f/4L, best I've done is 6.139, need a 6.683 on that one. But I rarely shoot for challenges with the 70-200 (or, for that matter, the 60mm).

lol R ;) I've just one more lens to pick up in a couple of weeks then I can go back to buying food again.

If things get too tricky for me I may just sell a couple and buy unknown brands lol

I am currently 29th with 6.811 with the 10-22. I WANT to get some good scores with all lenses so NEED to set goals to keep me on track.

A much harder goal to get into the top 12. :)

Go to preferences, set the horizontal pictures viewed to 10. You must have it set a 4. I have it set at 6. Making this goal I would have it set at 10. ;)

Seeing I only have one lens (built into the camera indeed) this is a non goal for me, I guess.

On the other hand, maybe getting into the top ten for my camera is a good goal to have - like it!

Adopt, adapt and improve...

Here you go then Carl, your goal is 6.1622 (30th place with your cam)

As there are not too many peeps with the Canon EOS 1D Mark IIn I have images in 4th, 17th, 25th, 27th, 28th and 30th places (not good scores though). I need somewhere around 7.5 to get in the top 20 with my 20D

OMG! My current lens cap scores are:

Votes: 282
Views: 432
Avg Vote: 6.1489
Comments: 27
Favorites: 0
Wish Lists: 0

So near but so far, especially as it started over 6.2.

Now this gets nail biting! lol

The rollover at the end of the challenge has (so far) always been good to me so you may just make it - good luck!

Took me a bit to realize what you were talking about in this thread (I can be quite dim at times). But once understanding I did a quick peek and discovered that I have 2 pics in the top 30 for one lens. Pretty cool.

Sigma 18-125mm f/3.5-5.6 DC for Canon - 6.920 (Rhythm) and 6.545 (Color Studio Portrait)

Maybe its just a lens that not many people use but cool none the less. I like seeing my pics floating amongst those of people I admire. Now if I can just break into the group with my 50mm 1.8. (Yeah right)

I had one for a lens, but the shot was DQ'ed. My fault :(

How would you find out top 30?
05/21/2006 03:45:48 PM · #21
click on your lens in your profile and it takes you to the top 30 pics with that lens

hmm, I only show top 15... weird.

An interesting stat to check out - and I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised by my results (top ten in 2 of my lenses and one camera, top 30 for another camera) but given that my remaining two lenses are the Tamron 28-75 2.8 and the Canon 50mm 1.8, I'm not sure that making the top 30 is a realistic goal for me. I think I'll stick with my original goal of upping my average to 6.0. :)

I did not know that.

Thanks !
