hey thanks, but I could never figure out how to insert thumbnails !

The thumbnails are taken from your portfolio on DPC, the links you have are on another website so it's the Insert Hyperlink one you choose.

I am messing around with it....

So far no luck making it look better. There are some experts here that are better at this than I am! :)

these are the strangest link I've ever clicked...

they opened another blank safari window, then a download started, then photoshop opened and displayed the image...

usually just another safari windows opens and displays the image...

So far, I am finding that just using the sponge tool over the rainbow only to increase it's saturation is helping the most.

Try this:
In photoshop - hit ctrl alt ~ (the key to the left of number 1)
This selects the lighest bits of the image

Hit ctrl J - copies it into a new layer

Change the blend mode of the new layer to multiply - selectively darkens the lightest bits - mostly the sky here, the rainbow stands out better

Works quite well on both images

Thanks to Bear_Music for the original concept in the landscape thread.

Do you know what your "layers palette" is? IN that, you see thumbnails and stacking order of the layers in your image. When you click on a layer to make it active, notice the little drop-down box upper left in that palette: click the down arrow for blending options. You can set to "multiply" or "screen" or many other options.

IN the above instructions, he told you to hit cntrl-alt-tilde (~) to select the brightness range and cntrl-j to create a new layer with that selection loaded and nothing else. THIS is the layer you want to multiply.

I'll take a stab at this one myself in a bit.

R.

Edit to add: he did just fine, no improvement I can make on that without a lot of nit-picking work...

Like I said Bear_Music - you taught me the technique, I just applied it.

JRalson also had an excellent idea - applying noise reduction, the image is quite noisy (the grainy look)

I haven't tried Noise Ninja but get good results with Neat Image, both give good results.

Hi folks, thanks to all for all the trouble you took for such a clumsy pic taken by a novice like me.

But did you see this one(I posted it before, but nobody apparently tried it) taken at the same time

link3

This pic is even more complicated to handle because here we also have a backlit subject in the foreground.

Thanks to all again and just to inform you, I use a very unsatisfactory Kodal LS753 with only 2x digital zoom.
It might be time to upgrade (?) I might ask for your help in chosing my new camera

Used a combination of this tutorial and this thread to fix the color. Used color balance and selective color to help with yellow tinge on front of building. Used levels with a mask to lighten up the rool a touch. Used BearMusics contrast masking to even out the hystogram...

Hope it works...

The problem is a very severe color cast issue probably caused by having the wrong white balance setting.

Though there are standard color corection approaches you can apply, I believe is basically incorrectable and you will never be able to make it look like Link2 below.

Basically this image requires too much effort for too little benefit. I recommend you give up on it. This is definitely a case where you wanted to get it right in the original.

True I realised that.
