I dont know if any of you have had this problem its with the nikon d70 the early model apparently there is a fault with in the camera and the whole camrea just shuts down its a common fault with the model and nikon will fix it even if the warrenty is out.

FleaNZ and Mark Richards both have D70 that we have upgraded to the D70s via Nikon's firmware upgrade.

I don't know if it would fix your issue, but it does make some very significant differences to the camera. You download the upgrade from the web, copy it to a memory card, plug it in the camera and upgrade from the menu

Tracey i had the same problem but not as bad as you i wasnt going anywhere too shoot so i just took it too the camera shop and nikon replaced it free of charge ..lucky me .
