I was going to submit this "Deleted the url myself", but I didnt have time to finish it, so I ended up submitting a photo that I dont really like.

I feel really stupid now, for not taking the time I needed to shoot the photo I wanted to submit.

Aw, don't feel stupid. Sometimes that just happens.

I would take the link off if I were you! I did not submit to the Lenscap challenge and posted a picture in a forum of what I was considering entering....and OH MY GOD....I go PM'd saying I shouldn't post a shot that may interfere with a current challenge. AND...the post with the picture was deleted from the forum !

So if I may be so bold....I assume that if there is a challenge going on called lenscap or still life....we should not put a picture in the forums that have any relationship to a lenscap or still life. If you do, you are subject to being called down for it !!!

Then you probably shouldn't quote the link either. :P

The challenge is closed already and have been for a few days, so I dont think it will do any difference.

That doesn't matter. What I was told is that posting a shot that looks like it could be part of a current challenge shot may SWAY the voting.!!!

Voting for the Still Life challenge is still going on. And per the forum rules, discussion of outtakes during voting is prohibited. The advice you got from kenskid was very appropriate.

From the rules...
Please do not discuss specific challenge entries or outtakes until voting has ended. Doing so can affect voting and commenting, so please save these discussions for after the end of the voting period. Please report any posts discussing these, and do not reply to them. Outtake threads posted early will be removed.

tragically, I followed the link before it was deleted and now I have lost all ability to judge the merits of still life photographs. I hope you're satisfied!

Don't feel bad. I had a picture inside my head that I wanted to try and set up for the challenge, but I just couldn't find the time.

Don't bother. You can really hurt yourself trying to get your camera inside your head. Believe me, I've tried!

with the dearth in comments and rule changes like "no posting in the forums during a challenge" it feels to me like the focus of this site has shifted to more the competition and less about the community getting better at our chosen hobby/craft.

How could this be a good thing?

You are not being asked never to discuss anything photographic again.

Whatever it is that you want to discuss (that is closely topic related) will most probably still be there when THAT challenge is over.
