PhotoTheme is a free weekly photo challenge. It is hosted on MSN (for logistical reasons...I hope to move it to a private server soon).
This week is our first week and the submissions have been slim, though we do have 20 members so far. The theme this week is TASTE.
Please come by //groups.msn.com/phototheme and submit your best shot.

Sorry to be harsh, but I'm quite happy here, and I'm not sure I agree with your reasons on your previous posts to leave this community. I hope you change your mind and keep submitting here! |

If you check the title of this thread it says ANOTHER chance to play. I am NOT trying to outdo or replace DPC. I just opened up PhotoTheme for folks to have another place to submit their work with some of the rule modifications that a lot of people here have asked for and I agreed with.
Did you post this kind of reply to the other threads asking about other places to submit work, or is it really just me you object to?
Shari
Actually one of the main reasons I opened up PhotoTheme was that I was hoping the folks in the local camera club might enjoy a group like this. Since there are only 5 members, I figured why not open it up for other people who like to share their work with others. [edit]Message edited by author 2003-08-19 09:21:53.

Woah, please don't get so defensive.
All I was saying was that I saw you were getting unhappy here and wanted to leave. I thought this was a shame, and that you should have stuck it out. So you could say it was a personal comment, but in a good way because I didn't think you should leave. There's no need to be so aggresive! |

did you really mean to say that photos cannot be more than "75 mb" in size?

Yes. If you look at my challenge entries here since "round" you'll see that 75 mb is large enough to give you a good photo without taking up huge amounts of space in the group.
THIS is a 75 mb file.

Actually, shareinnc, 75mb is bigger than the largest megapixel camera here takes in raw mode. It would take a dial-up internet several hours to load. It is 500 times the size of any shot here on DPC. I believe you meant 75 kb (kilobytes), not mb (megabytes). |

Have I become invisible? Ah well, if anyone wants to leave, see if I care... |

Who said that? ;-)
Despite DPC only allowing 150KB rather than 75MB, I'll stay. ;-))) |

Thanks Steve. I've been having a bad day. I'll fix that note on the site.

How does the voting work?

I'll set up the polls once the week is done and members will vote on their favorites. The polls are restricted to one vote per person.

I think this will take a lot of work(better to set up your own server soon). An other problem is that most people don't vote or will vote on their own submission. Submissions wil be a problem too, dpchallenge has 9368 users and <300 wil submit a photo for a challenge this is less than 4%. Nowadays I only submit a photo for a challenge if I like it myself. On my own site there is no theme of the week so people can send in anything they like, at the moment there are 65 members and in week 33 there were 12 people(18%) submitting a photo so only a small number of the members will submit a photo and an even smaller number will vote.
Btw. you can get a free short url on www.dot.tk
