I can allllmost login. Geez... I've seen lag before, but Fanatics is seriously in danger of being overtaken and crushed by continental drift. :-/

Is that the same as "Lateral Shift"?

Due to ongoing problems with the hosting network, I've decided to disable the normal chatroom and enable the backup chat again for the foreseeable future.

Emergency Backup Chatroom

Needless to say, we're looking into moving hosting centre in the near future too...

we have a riot in there...
help each otehr in there...
complain at times in there...

but all in all we've made friends in the chat room

Hey yanko, you're not the only one. I didn't know about it until this thread either!

Now, a question about it...
I was in for the first time last night. Several times it just quit scrolling and I had to log out/in. Apparently I could still talk, everyone could see it but me. And yes, I had the auto-scroll on and it would scroll fine for a while. Almost like there was a set buffer that I had reached the limit of? This happened half a dozen times. Any suggestions?

When you're at the login page, try checkmarking the "safe mode" box. That usually helps some, although chat in all its forms has been rather flakey lately.

Which is why I had such high hopes (once upon a time) of getting a Paltalk chatroom organized, but nobody was interested.

It would be so nice to have a chat room with not only typing, but also audio! I'd love to hear everyone's voice, plus it wouldn't keep crashing all the time.

Oh gosh. To be honest, I can't imagine anything worse! No offense but audio chat just aint my thing. Plus my coworkers might wonder... ;)

Given the sheer numbers of us in chat sometimes I think audio would be completely impossible - we're interrupting each other all the time but at least with text chat all the comments are displayed and we can still read each one. If we were actually talking it would just be an incomprehensible cacaphony! :D

And this is different from normal how?

So how many normally hang out there? (I've only visited once so far)
When you say "sheer numbers" it makes me think of the dalnet room I used to op in which, in its heyday, averaged near 300... *shudder*

Ack, nothing like that. We don't usually go much higher than 25 and that's generally only during "important events" like rollover. 5-12 is probably a good estimate for regular hours.

No that isn't an issue, it isn't how it works.

In a paltalk room, people still type to each other. But on top of that, ONE person at a time can be on the mic for everybody to hear.
You "raise your hand" to take turns on the mic if you wish. Or you just listen and type.

It is everything you have now, plus a little extra.

Aah right... not sure it appeals to me to be honest but I'm sure some will like it!

What happens if someone gets up on their soapbox and then won't shuddup? I mean, not that anyone would ever do that. But can you throw virtual fruit or virtually hook them off the mic or what?
