While uploading images from my Canon S1 IS to my Computer, I withdraw the lead from the camera when the upload is complete, without shutting off the computer. Is it the right way.
Is it likely to cause any harm to the Camera or memory card?
Should it not be the way we remove our Pen-drive?
I am really confused. Please help. |

You're fine to pull the cord as long as the light on the camera (or pen/thumb drive for that matter) is NOT flashing. No need to shut off the computer, but don't forget to turn off the camera (killed many a battery forgetting that one).
You'll hear conflicting stories about whether it's neccessary to go through the "Safely Remove Hardware" dialog first. I never do, and have never had any issues... |

That's the "graceful" (and safer, especially to less experienced users) method to use, since Windows XP sometimes continues to write data in the background eventhough on-screen it shows completed. |
