I was shooting a gig last night, hated it anyway as I thought the music was rubbish (The Zutons). Had some hassles with security, who were clueless.
I had to shoot the after-show party that nobody turned up to, and I dropped my camera with my Sigma 12-24mm EX lens attached... this is my favourite lens, it's indispensable to me!
The camera made the most awful noise as it hit the floor... the people next to me looked horrified!
When I picked it up, the electronics still worked, but I couldn't see anything through the shutter and it whirred endlessly when I turned it on.
Aaaaaargh!
I had a nightmare the night before that the shutter went on my camera during an important assignment (seriously, that's my idea of a bad dream! Forget being chased by monsters... lol), I was amazed by how prophetic it was!
So I tried another lens, not expecting anything to happen as it was a really bad fall.
Everything worked fine!
Phewwww!
When I got home, me and my wife looked at the lens, adjusted a few screws, and it works fine now!
That camera is robust I tell you, it's built like a tank... it's one of the reasons I bought it. I hope the new Sony camera (announced on June 6th apparently) is as strong.
Anyway, just had to share with people who would understand how much that affected me... especially as I have a lot of important jobs coming up where I need that lens, and I have no backup body yet as I'm waiting for the new Sony.
