Heck, I'm sitting here with a perfectly competent, well-if-unimaginatively-composed, nicely luminous shot of a lens cap: no tricks, no gimmicks, but easy on the eyes, sharp and crisp, and it's scoring under 5... Sigh. I'd have thought it would be right in the 5.5 - 5.7 range...

My photo which was at 6.2996 just got a 2 vote! How could they? Must be one of those "Tamron Trolls" that doesn't like my lenscap!
Ha Ha Ha..
I've got to stop hitting the dang update button!

awesome! good luck...
and yes, everyone should have a minolta on their voting breakdown. the 30D is my bf's and the only reason it's there is because I had to use it for this shot. |

How do you know when you get a 2 or a 9. Do you guys calculate the avarage or should I be able to see the numbers someware. |

I'm not sure either. A spreadsheet seems to me to be the only likely method.

Well, you can't win them all, but it looks like I'm avoiding a visit to foursville.

It's very easy to figure out what vote you have received when you jot down your scores and there are only one or two votes between when you write the scores down. You multiply the number of votes times the score and write down that number(usually you have to round it up a bit); then you multiply the new number of votes times the new score and write down that number - then subtract the difference.
For example (not from this challenge):
154 votes x score 5.5325 = 852
155 votes x score 5.5419 = 859 ... so a vote of 7 was given
157 votes x score 5.5287 = 868 ... two votes have been given and the total number has increased by 9 so votes of 4 & 5 were probably given. (however, it could be 6 & 3 or 7 & 2 anything that would add up to nine, most likely 4 & 5)
This is very easy to do if you have a habit of keeping a little notebook by the computer and jot down your score each time you update.

A real personal best if this stays here, although it is hovering around 6.2 almost all of the time. Some wonderful comments, too!
Sigh...

I hear you. I just got 4 votes averaging 3.5!
Dropped my score from 6.2988 to 6.2531.
I'm doing well on this challenge, my second best entry ever, but I hate to see this happen to my score. I should just stay off the computer during the week!

My sincerest apologies for not commenting on your lenscap. The guilt is even worse as I read your kind words on my own lenscap entry. So far I've only commented 10% - but I'm working on it.
I suppose I could just try to comment on all the Cannon caps first, but since this site could easily be named "DPCannon", I might as well shoot for 100%....

Heh - no problem, Walter - I have plenty of comments on this one, so I'm good.
Still need to get to the other 50%, though. |

OK, I'm done. I didn't comment on those that had no visible lens cap - I figure they've probably heard that enough by now. :-) |

You should have left comments on those that said, "nice lenscape!" ;)

I have 24 comments, no favs, and would also appreciate a few more 10s. Or a couple of 8s would be just fine, too.

Of course for me that will put this shot at 2nd highest score ever.
